Excellent article on a lifelong mutated polio carrier in Pakistan. Basically you crap Polio back in the environment [as is normal with polio] but this guy with an unusual immune is fermenting the live vaccine for 28 years into something new:

What is particularly tragic for this individual, from what I understood from that article, is that his chronic polio condition is polio-vaccination derived. He presumably, then, did not have polio prior to the vaccination!

I'm no expert, but if you ever get to read the excellent 'Virus Hunter' there is a good explanation of live versus dead vaccines.

It's endemic in Pakistan and Afghanistan, areas with high migration levels to the West. We could be storing up further problems for ourselves.
