Could someone clear these up, then: some folk in the USA not being allowed to hang out their washing to dry? Some not being allowed to collect rainwater from their roof in barrels? Local bylaws apparently... is this still true?

Uppity rich neighborhoods have zoning bylaws that prevent outside cloths lines which would diminish property values. In much of the arid Southwest the rights to all the rainwater that falls belong to the city and house owners are not allowed to steal it. Most of rural America is not so foolish.

I hope the uppity rich neighbourhoods don’t have toilets in their houses. To admit to practising such socially unacceptable functions would surely cause prices to plummit. Ugh!!!
