I just wanted to say how great these forums are. Many reasons, but a few for starters:

> People are generally, or very, well informed.

> The level of discussion is of a high standard.

> It's got plenty for people new to the subject to find, and depth for the more familiar.

> People are courteous.

> The grammar and spelling are of an impressive standard! Wow!

> There's a good sense of humour, despite the subject matter.

> It's friendly.

> There's lots of practical help on offer.

You may like to add your own, but I reckon we deserve a big pat on the back.

Funny - I've been thinking about writing a similar post but have not found the words. I prefer this forum over others because of the things you list and I prefer to write for it also.

I've posted virtually nothing on PeakOil.com but hundreds of times here.

As I've stated elsewhere I love peakoil.com for some stuff but the forums are a real TURN OFF for me personally - they are a good example of how, in the main, not to do it (again, just my view). Maybe it's a cultural thing between the brits and the yanks, I don't know...

You get a level of debate here that I rate highly, devoid of slanging matches and other sillyness.

Keep up the good work everyone <<no smily for a thumbs-up>>

Yes - the board is excellent, as are the people that use it. Big up, y'all!

Completely agree - thank goodness for this board. It has really helped me since finding out about PO. I am sure others feel the same.... I also view peakoil.com but rarely post there, not so keen on the style of discussion but still interesting to read.

It is great to have a site where we can air our concerns and views without fear of ridicule or flaming and great to have mature discussion on such a weighty topic.

Well done to all those who set up the site, manage and administer it - a big thanks from me! Very Happy

I think that not having any solutions to PO actually helps us keep the site so supportive, intelligent and mature. If that weren't the case you can bet there'd be flame wars in the blink of an eye. As it is, why would any troll come here and bait us? And who except the odd economist is going to berate us for warning of what must inevitably happen? Even the 'personal survivalist' and 'let's save everyone' subgroups seem to get along.

Yeah, the site and the people who post on it are absolutely brilliant. This is my first port of call everyday catch up on things. Still don't know a great deal compared to a lot of people on here but it's all very accessible and straighforward.

Keep up the good work!! Very Happy
