Tories privatise #MetOffice. Both Met Office & BBC publicly owned. BBC forced to seek cheapest product and MO to maximise charges. Bonkers.

I think the most annoying was the ordnance survey, a rip off monopoly that we pay for at least 3 times. Every council printed map is a fee to OS, then you pay for the army, then the scum want ~400 for a set of UK maps with no update included.

At least the Met Office was a useless moneypit with their Crays, politics, and dodgy forecasts.

Try:

Not perfect, but easy to use.

Met Office trending on twitter but few tweets say it's Tory neoliberal agenda to destroy public ownership of both MO and BBC.

(And the Ordnance Survey)

Yes, the Beeb is the biggie, after the NHS.

The NHS sell-off is well under way, so the BBC will be difficult but not impossible.

That UK forecast is based on the US GFS model. It's demonstrably not as skilful as the Met Office model. In addition, over the UK GFS is not run at as high a resolution and isn't 'initialised' as often as the MO model.

I don't know why BBC has dropped Met Office, but I do know for certain that no one produces a more accurate 7 day forecast for the UK. I suspect the BBC are perfectly happy to go for a cheaper, poorer forecast.

It's all part of the neoliberal agenda, with one public body forced to pay another public body with public funds in a way that is unsustainable so that the only escape is for the bodies to be privatised. The Government wants to privatise the Met Office so it is forced to monetise it's product. The Government has pressured the BBC to spend less.

Short term result is that public money is transferred to a foreign provider for a worse product.

Vote for Corbynomics instead.

(Of course Met Office employees couldn't possibly comment.)
