Having just purchased my first iPod, I am thinking about whether we should make iPod-compatible media files available for people. There seem to be three kinds:

Video (I've tried the Newsnight peak oil of last year on mine)
Audio (interviews in audiobook format so that your place is remembered on stopping)
Notes (for those who don't know, these are simple text pages which can be read on the iPod. Useful for reference.)

I have started by converting my Oil Reference Data Sheet to Notes format which I will add to "wolfatthedoor". Maybe we should be creating free videos and audio introductions to peak oil to download from iTunes and other sites. PowerSwitch could also convert their multimedia to the appropriate iPod-ready formats for people.

Sounds like a damn good idea. Plenty of good lectures, talks, video and audio out there.

Anyone interested in getting together the best audio and video on Peak Oil?

If you use something like Windows Movie Maker (free), you can put together still images like the slides from a Powerpoint presentation combined with a voiceover commentary. As they are still images rather than video, they should compress quite well.

You would need another program to convert the resulting movie to an iPod MPG format but there are free programs around.
